Board Certified in Dermatology Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology Dr. Tessler received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1967. He completed a surgical internship at Detroit's Harper Hospital and interrupted a surgical residency there to serve in the U.S. Army as an orthopedic surgeon during the Vietnam war in 1969 and 1970. He completed his Dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit in 1974. Dr. Tessler has performed hair transplant surgery since 1974 and has been actively involved in the evolution of the specialty to its current state-of-the-art, utilizing follicular unit technology. Since 1991, Dr. Tessler has devoted his practice exclusively to hair transplant surgery. He has published in hair transplant and plastic surgery text books and professional journals.
